Sacred Flame SACRED FLAME performed at the "Wings to the Spirit" Baha'i conference at Pensacola Beach. SACRED FLAME is a new collaboration between three artists passionately committed to spiritual music, unity, teaching and each other. Meeting through their membership and participation in the One Human Family Workshops, Inc., Adrienne, Helen and Tangela's friendship and of sisterhood.
SACRED FLAME is a natural outgrowth of their connection. Deeply influenced by such artists as Sweet Honey in the Rock, SACRED FLAME desires to use its abilities to explore issues of culture and community, using music as common ground to come together and overcome challenges. Adrienne and Tangela have been all over the world singing out the praises of God to admiring audiences from Venezuela to China to South Africa, whereas Helen has traveled throughout the American South as a modern day troubadour, collecting and sharing songs, teaching workshops and empowering all to lift up our voices in praise of God. As they come from different backgrounds, we hope to share our story and our friendship as a ray of light in these dark times As members of the Bahá'í Faith, we women of Sacred Flame wish to use our music to emblazon Bahá’u’lláh's name.
The name Sacred Flame came to one of us in a dream and we believe that it was a sign from the Creator that our music blaze across the lands. The fire lit by mortal hand imparteth light and warmth to but a little space, whereas that sacred flame which the Hand of God hath kindled, though burning in the east, will set aflame the west and give warmth to both the north and the south; nay, it shall rise from this world to glow with the hottest flame in the realms on high, flooding with light the Kingdom of eternal glory. -- Abdu'l-Baha
